{"id":542,"date":"2014-04-01T14:29:53","date_gmt":"2014-04-01T06:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/?p=542"},"modified":"2021-01-29T09:28:55","modified_gmt":"2021-01-29T01:28:55","slug":"dengue-outbreak-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/dengue-outbreak-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Dengue Outbreak 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-543\" title=\"Pic 1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-1-300x198.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-1-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-1.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the recent months, dengue fever has spread like wildfire throughout Malaysia.\u00a0 It has claimed hundreds of lives in Southeast Asia in the past year and is asserted to be the worst outbreak since 2010.\u00a0 The densities of mosquito and larvae sites have increased lately and are posing a serious problem.\u00a0 Every day after dusk, mosquitoes are seen flying around the house despite our futile attempts to keep them away.\u00a0 Besides being an annoying pest, mosquitoes are very dangerous due to the disease that they spread.\u00a0 Selangor state itself has been noted to have approximately 20 deaths which is very troubling.<\/p>\n<p>Every few years or so there will be a sudden break from the normal cycle of the resurgence of mosquitoes and, 2014 seems to land upon this period of time.\u00a0 The main symptoms for this endemic disease are :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High fever<\/li>\n<li>Pain upon the eyes<\/li>\n<li>Low blood pressure<\/li>\n<li>Muscle and joint pain<\/li>\n<li>Loss of appetite<\/li>\n<li>Rash<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hospitals nowdays are extremely congested and, we should take immediate steps to prevent ourselves from being infected by this flu-like illness which is carried by the aedine aegypti mosquito.\u00a0 Here are some ways to\u00a0 help curb this increasing issue:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Refrain from going out after dusk or dawn<\/li>\n<li>Try not to wear dark clothes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-544\" title=\"Pic 2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-2-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-2-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-2.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Discard any stagnant water as it is the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes<\/li>\n<li>Wear long-sleeved clothes if possible<\/li>\n<li>Avoid spending time outdoors during dawn and dusk as mosquitoes are rather highly active during this period of time<\/li>\n<li>Try to make sure that a person who suffers from dengue fever is not bitten by unaffected aedes mosquitoes as they can be in turn infected by the virus.\u00a0 This will increase the number of aedes mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-31.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-546\" title=\"Pic 3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-31-300x232.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-31-300x232.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Pic-31.jpg 428w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Invest in mosquito nets and repellents.. they go a long way!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sources:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/dengue_fever\/page3.htm#what_are_dengue_fever_symptoms_and_signs\">http:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/dengue_fever\/page3.htm#what_are_dengue_fever_symptoms_and_signs<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/searealtime\/2013\/12\/28\/dengue-deaths-up-in-malaysia\/\">http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/searealtime\/2013\/12\/28\/dengue-deaths-up-in-malaysia\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the recent months, dengue fever has spread like wildfire throughout Malaysia.\u00a0 It has claimed hundreds of lives in Southeast Asia in the past year and is asserted to be the worst outbreak since 2010.\u00a0 The densities of mosquito and &hellip;
