to Identify Venomous Snakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Upon noticing a snake slithering stealthily into the lawn with its forked tongue flicking in and out, many people hurriedly bar their windows and doors, keeping a strained eye on the whereabouts of the particular snake.\u00a0 Others who are bolder might immediately rush into their kitchen and storm out with a honed cleaver in hand, aspiring to behead the snake by the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p>Although snakebites are pretty common inMalaysia, it is extremely important to recognize which snakes are venomous or non venomous so we do not necessarily panic, thinking that we might be paralyzed in an hour or so.\u00a0 The thing is, 17 out of 105 species of land snakes are venomous so we do not have to wring our hair out when we chance upon a snake.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Always study the head shape of the snake you have encountered.\u00a0 If the head is triangular, it is most likely a venomous snake.\u00a0 The head of a non-venomous snake looks pretty much the same like the rest of its body.\u00a0 In short, if the head bulges out, it\u2019s probably venomous.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/pic-1.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-363\" title=\"pic 1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/pic-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"445\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/pic-1.gif 445w, https:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/pic-1-300x196.gif 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 445px) 100vw, 445px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 If you are close enough to see its eyes, most venomous snakes possess vertical eye slits while most non-venomous snakes have round pupils.\u00a0 However, a small number of venomous snakes have round pupils, so just be wary if you see a snake.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Here are a few species of venomous snakes that you can look out for :<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">King Cobra<\/span><\/p>\n<p>They are olive green or brown and have an extremely special quality whereby their ribs can spread.\u00a0 It is also known as the hood.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/pic-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-364\" title=\"pic 2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/pic-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"298\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>King Cobras are dangerous because of the amount of venom they inject into their victims which is quite substantial in a single bite.\u00a0 The venom is based on neurotoxins.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Malayan Cobra<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This cobra is found commonly in Peninsular Malaysia.\u00a0 They usually have white marks on their throat and are bluish black, light brown or yellow.\u00a0 These nasty snakes are capable of spitting venom from their fangs so beware!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/pic-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-366\" title=\"pic 4\" underline;\">Malayan Pit Viper<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Also known as Ular Kapak Bodor or dumb pit viper, this snake obtained its name by remaining at the same exact spot where it bit its victim.\u00a0 Thus, it is usually killed as revenge by the victim with ease. \u00a0They usually have a rusty color or are yellowish brown.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Banded Krait<\/span><\/p>\n<p>They have alternate black and yellow crossbands and possess neurotoxic venom which causes muscle paralysis.\u00a0 It is a passive snake if not provoked, so simply ignore if you encounter it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.antipest.com.my\/apblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/pic-7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\"
